Keynotes
Professor Peter Keller conducts research that is aimed at understanding the behavioural and brain bases of human interaction in musical contexts. His specific interests include the cognitive and motor processes that enable ensemble musicians to coordinate with one another. Keller has held research positions at Haskins Laboratories (New Haven, USA) and the Max Planck Institute for Psychological Research (Munich, Germany). Since 2007 he has led the Music Cognition and Action group at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences in Leipzig, Germany
Professor Frank E. Pollick, director of the PaCo Lab , is interested in the perception of human movement and the cognitive and neural processes that underlie our abilities to understand the actions of others. In particular, current research emphasises brain imaging and how individual differences involving autism, depression and skill expertise are expressed in the brain circuits for action understanding. In addition to this basic research, he has examined the application domains of humanoid robotics, computer animation, surveillance, athletics and artistic expression in music and dance.
